Some projects begin with a plan.
Winter Hymn began with listening.

Written by Julia Morris and released under the artist name Between Alleluia & Amen, Winter Hymn is a contemplative album shaped slowly — by prayer, by winter’s quiet rhythms, and by a desire to create space rather than fill it.

As the songs emerged, color followed. What began as music became a companion yarn collection, allowing the same prayers to be held not only in sound, but in the hands.

This is the story of Winter Hymn — an album and a music-inspired yarn collection created to be received gently.

Winter Hymn: The Album

Winter Hymn is a collection of songs written for the in-between moments of winter — when faith feels steady rather than dramatic, when hope is held quietly, and when rest is not something to be earned.

Each song was composed without urgency, allowing silence, breath, and restraint to shape the work. The album unfolds slowly, mirroring the season itself:

From Song to Color: The Winter Hymn Yarn Collection

As the album took shape, each song began to suggest a palette — not as illustration, but as accompaniment. The Winter Hymn yarn collection was created as a music-inspired series of hand-dyed colors, each one shaped by a specific song from the album.

Dyed slowly and intentionally, these colors are calm, grounded, and quietly luminous. They are winter colors — not loud or hurried, but steady and present. Each skein is designed to invite unhurried stitching, thoughtful making, and moments of rest.

Every yarn label includes a QR code linking directly to its companion song, allowing you to listen while you stitch — or simply to carry the music with you as you work.

Making Slowly, Holding Gently

Both the album and the yarn collection were created with the same guiding principle: nothing here needs to rush.

Winter Hymn is not meant to be consumed quickly. It is meant to accompany you — through quiet mornings, long evenings, unfinished projects, and prayers that don’t yet have words.

Whether you listen, stitch, or do both, my hope is that this collection meets you gently, exactly where you are.

Every song is a prayer.
Every skein tells a story.

May this winter hymn offer you rest.
