Inspiration Behind Pink Pearl Yarns

Pink Pearl Yarns is a nonprofit fiber arts studio and creative community, rooted in storytelling, faith, and the belief that making things with our hands matters.

Pink Pearl Yarns began with a quiet spark — a longing to make things that feel like home.
Color that comforts. Craft that slows the world. Beauty that carries a little bit of light.

Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, Pink Pearl is more than a yarn line — it’s a tender invitation into making that feels meaningful. Every skein is hand-dyed in small batches, with storytelling and faith woven in. We believe that creativity is a gift rooted in love — something offered, received, shared, and grown together.

Our mission is simple:

  • To create accessible, high-quality yarn that welcomes makers of all experience levels.
  • To nurture joy in the everyday — from the first loop on the needle to the final stitch.
  • To honor the sacred act of creating — as something deeply human and deeply hopeful.

Why nonprofit?

Because warmth is a kindness — and kindness should be shared.

We believe natural fibers matter — not only for their beauty, but for their ability to keep people warm, comforted, and cared for during the cooler months. As a nonprofit, Pink Pearl exists to make high-quality, natural-fiber yarn more accessible and to encourage people to learn how to create warm, lasting items for themselves and for others.

Through story-centered projects rooted in ministry and encouragement, we seek to offer more than yarn. We offer spaces to reflect, to rest, and to be reminded of hope, love, and joy — woven gently into the work of our hands.

In every season, we believe making can be an act of care, for ourselves, and for one another.

Color tells stories. Hands carry history.
And every finished piece holds a memory of the one who made it.

Welcome to the Pink Pearl family.
We’re so glad you’re here.

Meet Julia (The Dyer, Dreamer, & Storyteller)

Hi, I’m Julia — the heart and hands behind Pink Pearl Yarns.
I am a fiber artist, baker of comforting things, musician, and storyteller.

My journey into dyeing began with curiosity, a pot on the stove, and the whisper that color can carry meaning. As I dyed, I wondered. As I stirred pigment into wool, I found stillness. And as the colors emerged — layered, living, unexpected — so did the stories.

Writing and dyeing became one conversation — one thread of creativity and faith guiding the other.
This is how The Weaver’s Light was born — a cozy winter novella meant to accompany the Advent Collection.

  • I believe making is holy work.
  • I believe small things matter.
  • I believe beauty can heal weary places in us.

And I’m honored to share my hands and heart with yours.

Meet Thom (The Master of Untangling & Structure)

Every yarn studio needs a steady lighthouse — and Thom is ours.

Thom is the builder, the untangler, the “let’s think this through,” and the steady presence who makes sure Pink Pearl runs from one idea to the next with joy (and usually a laugh).
Where Julia brings color and story, Thom brings thoughtful structure, a sharp eye, and the kind of support that makes creativity feel safe enough to bloom.

He also reminds us to breathe, to rest, and to enjoy the magic as it happens.

He’s steady, dependable, and full of quiet brilliance, the kind that doesn’t demand attention — it just makes everything better.

We like to say:
Julia dreams in color — Thom makes sure we can walk the dream into the real world.

🐾 The Studio Cats (Very Important Supervisors)

A black cat lounges comfortably on iridescent, rainbow-lit stairs with eyes peacefully closed.

Little Ghost
